What’s the deal with washing?…. Yes I know hand washing can be a chore but washing machines can be evil. Washing machines can also be amazing and easily trusted with the most delicate of textiles. Know your machine before you place a handwoven item into it. I always recommend hand washing woven items unless they are specifically labeled for machine washing. Never add bleach, ever. Just do not do it. Ironing is absolutely fine as long as the proper heat setting is used.

Fibers

Wool/wool blends(Pictured): Oh how I love wool. I offer a large variety of wool and wool blends. Too many to go into detail about. But they are all super soft and high quality. This is not the scratchy nightmare sweater wool of your youth.

Supima®️: Supima is a US grown and processed brand of long stable luxury pima cotton. It has a natural sheen and the softness of a silk blend while being 100% machine washable.

Eco2cotton®️: Eco2 as I call it is an incredibly environmentally responsible fiber. They take garment clippings and spin them back into a useable fiber. This process creates a fiber that has amazing texture and the softness of T-shirt’s. Textiles made with Eco2cotton will only get softer and more broken in with use.

Tencel®️/Lyocell: Lyocell is a strong fiber made out of wood chips. It is produced in what is called a closed loop system so there is no waste water from the process. This makes it a very environmentally friendly fiber. It is soft as silk, strong as polyester, cool as linen, warm as wool, and as absorbent as cotton.

Silk: My one true fiber love. I love dying it, weaving with it, rolling in it. I want to coat the entire outside of my house in it. When it comes down to it there are 3 types of silk that I use the most. Spun, Tussah, and Noil. Spun silk is the silk you think of when someone says silk. This has lots of sheen, shine, softness. Tussah is my secret weapon for people who dont like silk. Tussah reminds me of teddy bear soft shiny wool. It has warmth to it that spun silk does not. Last but not least, Noil silk. I love, love, love this yarn. It gives a memory foam type squishyness to textiles.

SilverSpun®️(Pictured):  I said silk was my one true fiber love, and I meant it, but if I had to pick just one yarn, this would be it. This amazing yarn is produced just a stones throw from me in Washington, DC. It is a blend of Extra combed cotton, tussah silk, and real Silver. The silver is bonded with a Nylon to make it pliable enough for yarn. SilverSpun®️ reminds me of the softest flannel shirt, the one you ‘borrowed’ from your Dad after he spent 2 decades making it the softest thing ever. I even hear rumors that the silver allows gloves knitted out of this yarn to work on touch screens.
