We all struggle. I struggle. Sometimes just breathing and letting go is all we can do. And sometimes something beautiful rises from the ashes.
I wanted to make Jean strong, Jean is strong, WE are strong.
Becoming a mother pushed me to the brink of who I thought I was, little did I know it was pushing me to be who I really had been all along.
I am strong, I am a badass, I am a Mom. These words are not always easy to say, and they are even more difficult to truly embrace.
There are many different story arcs about Jean Grey and the Phoenix, varying from incredibly dark to a sappy love story. I accept Jean as she is, a woman who struggles with herself, struggles with her powers, struggles with her life.
From the darkness she will rise, she is Jean, she is the Phoenix.
Size: 25 inches around by 7 inches tall
Color: I went for strong blocks of color instead of my usual blended hand painted look. The yellow and orange flame part of the warp was painted on long chains to keep the colors from getting muddled representing Phoenix and the grey to black fade was painted in skeins to have a more chaotic appearance representing the dark Phoenix. The weft is a fiery red for Jean herself.
Material: 50% tussah silk, 50% Tencel™️
Care Instructions: I strongly encourage you to hand wash and hang/lay flat to dry all your silk Chaos. That being said, this is a tougher fiber combination and if you must, then please wash on delicate COLD. No bleach, no fabric softener, and add a tiny tiny splash of white vinegar to the wash cycle. This helps silk return silk to the slightly acidic lifestyle it has grown to enjoy. If you must dry it in a dryer, please make sure there is nothing for it to catch on. Please use a very very low setting. Please do not overdry your silks. After washing you may notice it has scrunched up some, or became wrinkly, or slightly stiff feeling. DO NOT PANIC. All it needs is a good ironing. A good steam ironing to be exact. Set the machine to the proper heat setting and go at it. If you do not possess an iron then do not fret. Sit on your scarf, sleep with it, sit on it while you drive somewhere. This will naturally soften up the fibers and loosen them again without the need of an iron. If you are ever unsure how to properly care for your Chaos then please contact me firstname.lastname@example.org
Shipping expectations and timeline. Once an item is paid for, your order will be carefully packaged and shipped out within 3 business days by yours truly. If there is any delay in shipment you will be contacted. We are a family run business and sometimes things come up, life, vacation, sickness, herding cats, etc.
All Chaos textiles are 100% handwoven, handmade, hand crafted by yours truly in house. Although I do try to minimize things such as weavers knots, and other repairs, they may be present. They will never affect the function of the textile and are only left if a repair will be more visually invasive, which happens with hand dyed yarn.
All my photos are taken in the best lighting that I have at that particular time. I live in a 100+ year old house and there is a 15 minute window of decent natural light if the sun cooperates. The only editing I do on photos is to correct the horrible white balance of my cave of a house and to portray the goods as true to real life as possible.
Huzzah! For making to the end. Always remember to embrace the Chaos.
